I can't think of any comparable event to this. As far as I can tell, all the pressure on Mac arose purely from tbloggers. And they simply couldn't have backed down any further than they did. Remarkable.

These are great news! Now we will be motivated to buy things from this line.

Well done MAC!

An excellent result indeed, great work by all of the bloggers involved.

I'm really not understanding people buying from the collection in lieu of a charity donation though. It's 100% of *profits* that's being donated, so far better to donated the total sum you would have spent to charity.

massive shock and disbelief at these news. still got this want and need to see it on a proper newspaper to believe it's true lol. what a week's been. i don't think anyone involved in this 'action' shall we call it, thought they could seriously for one minute reach mac & rodarte, and maybe it was this totally slightly delusional fearless crazy drive which made the people unite and scream as loud as they could in the hope the companies would hear. The most unnerving thing is that this is just one of the million and one things going wrong with this world and that people cant help with, also because they've never heard of those issues/things in the first place. No amount of money will solve all the endemic crises in Juarez but this is a pretty damn good achievement. Sometimes it's good to be crazy, it can help achieve things :) I shall end this comment before the lump in the throat becomes too big to contain. damn it, too late.

This is just MAC though, right? Has Rodarte committed to donate anything? As I've said elsewhere I find the idea of a prohibitively expensive and highly niche fashion house profiting from the misery of these women (there is apparently a matching fashion collection from Rodarte) even worse than what MAC, which is at least a mass market product with global reach in awareness terms, did.

Glad to know that MAC is doing this. Even happier to know that my money that is going to purchase the Mineralize eyeshadows, the blush and beauty powders will go to charity in helping those women.

Best result for a shockingly un-thought through campaign. Such a surprise to see this coming from the usually so socially aware people at MAC...
