Counting is good but counting backwards is even better. My yoga teacher was having us count backwards from 50 during some relaxation session but for sleeping at night I start from 100.
This sounds absolutely "dreamy". I agree with you about the counting. It has helped me quite a few times.
The counting trick worked really well for me a few years ago when I'd want to stay up texting. I'd say 'if you can count to 100 without missing a number or falling asleep you can check your phone' - most times I fell asleep!
I think with the amount of Christmas stress at the moment this is really needed!
