I think drinking cologne was something 'de rigeur' back then.... do you remember the scene from Gone With the Wind where Scarlet gargles with cologne before receiving Rhett???

Denatured alcohol is responsible for the bitter taste. I suspect the edts might taste a bit like Bombay Sapphire, if made up with vodka...

I would love to try these but I'm not sure they're readily available in NYC. I did see some products in one of our pharmacies, but not many.
