Best way to apply is to saturate a piece of cotton with the softener and then peel off thin sheets and apply to your face. Sort of like a sheet mask. Remove after 5/10 mins and moisturise.

Shiseido does a brilliant 5-ply facial cotton that's specifically designed for that use...

It's bound to be special if it's Shiseido. I would love to try their products, but their beyond my bijou budget.

I am SO glad you posted this! I read something about these ages ago and couldn't for the life of me remember what they were called, so I pretty much gave up the hunt. I'm really pleased I found this blog, cheers m'dears xx

I understand your love. I find toners so harsh on my skin especially because most of them on the UK market contain alcohol so I mainly stick to lotions and softeners. There's a slightly cheaper alternative at £30 using 'the skincare' line from Shiseido which I'm currently using.

Also Dil's suggestion is highly recommended method from the shores of Asia!
