I'm unconnected to Andy Tauer or his company in any way - that's just in case anyone thinks 'oh yeah, PR'. I'm a big perfume geek myself and in the 'perfumista' community, Andy has an unsurpassable reputation for creativity, wearabliity and quality. L'Air du Desert Marocain is a personal favourite of mine, as I love incense-laden perfumes, but I forsee a couple of bottles of his in my stash. As you say, Incense Rose is a marvel. More than anything, I think you can smell the high quality ingredients in his fragrances - there's none of that watery smellalike generic aromachemical that I seem to get in a disappointingly large number of perfumes these days. Can I also point out that Andy's blog is fascinating and that non-British readers who are interested can buy scents and samples from his website http://www.tauerperfumes.com
Great piece. Andy Tauer is wonderful and so many fragrance people/perfumistas adore him and will tell you how nice he is. I emailed with him briefly after winning a bottle of his perfume and he was super sweet. I have yet to try the Orange Star but have sniffed all the rest. Reverie au Jardin is my favorite.
His scents are hard to find, so nice that London will get them. Nice, too, that he'll get some great exposure from your site:)
I've been fortunate enough to meet Andy twice and your description of him is spot on: he's an unassuming, self-deprecating charmer... and yes, his work is simply wonderful.
