Sharp actually uses this technology on their air conditioners. I think the ion thing has to do with the fact that human hair has positive charge (water is non-ionic), so showering the hair with negative ion is supposed to eliminate static and adds shine.

So it's an ionic hair dryer, improved. Yes? I don't get this stuff either.
