I want to get a salon application of gels first. Is it true gels don't last as long as acrylics?

I'm so opposed to this I don't know where to start and I'm deeply unimpressed with the company behind this brand in the UK. That said, I can see the benefits for the consumer!

Re the shrinking, gels always shrink but so long as you cap the end of the nail with each layer you should be fine xxx

That looks like a really good glossy result, my holy grail, if only I had the time and a stopwatch I would give it a go!

I tried this at home with my Mum & we found it took much longer than half an hour, but I guess with practice you could do it quicker. Mine also came away from the edges, but again I guess that could be put down to inexperience. If I had £80 to invest I definitely would buy a gel polish system - it is just whether you have the initial investment!

They came of my nails straight away - but I put that down to my application rather than the product.

I treated myself to the system for Christmas and cannot praise it enough. I used to have professional gels done every other week and the kit has paid for itself already.People have even commented on how good my nails look so I'm thrilled that they obviously look professionally done.

Hi, I love this colour. Every other swatch I see for envelope please looks very dark and much closer to purple than this pinky colour you have. Could you please tell me how you got this shade? ie was it one coat of envelope please or did you layer colours? Thanks

This is TOTALLY irresponsible! Harvey Nichols should be ashamed of selling this product. Gel should only ever be applied by fully trained and QUALIFIED nail technician! There is no one stopping someone buying this kit and taking clients on however be warned, if you are even thinking of doing this you have to be insured. To get insured you have to be QUALIFIED! if you don't acquire insurance and something goes wrong you are liable and this can be costly.

Moral of the story is if you want gel nails go to a reputable salon OR if you are thinking of it as a career then do it properly and get the proper training first.

Surely people are allowed to do their own nails without visiting a salon and spending 20 quid a go.... It ain't rocket science???

If people are setting up and charging people then that's up to them, it isn't the responsibility of Harvey Nics. You can buy all the stiff on eBay for half price anyway.

I don't see anything wrong with people wanting to save themselves money and so their own nails.

B&Q sell decorating stuff, but it doesn't stop me paying a decorator.

You can buy nail polish everywhere, but people still go to salons for manicures :)

To the person who said it's irresponsible to sell to unqualified people.

This product is the same as Artistic Colour Gloss. That is the professional version of it that manicurists use. Both are sold by the people in the UK who sell the Essie nail varnishes.

The man who makes the Artistic Colour Gloss is called RedCarpetMan on twitter!
