My boyf bought me some VS stuff when he was approached by a rep on the way to work in NY. He knows how MU mad I am, so thought he'd buy me some.
The quality isn't amazing but it's not super awful either. I didn't like the colours, so I just ended up chucking it after a while. There are numerous posts online about their reps being pushy and lying about VJ being stocked in Selfridges/Harrods or VJ being the mastermind behind MAC (erm, ok), etc
There's actually an email doing the rounds linking a blog post written by a blogger slagging the brand off and warning everybody about the woes of VJ- my friend fwd'ed it to be.
Personally I'm not interested in the brand, based on what I've seen so far. If it's as amazing as claimed to be, then surely it would be stocked in a high profile cosmetic outlet already and there'd be no need for people dragging trolleys behind them on the street selling the stuff to randoms walking by!
Me neither, I was approached this time last year, and the lady was quite pushy, but nothing appealed to me in the least so I just walked away. Was very, very difficult to walk away.
I'm not convinced either. I second Vex, if it really is such a brilliant brand it wouldn't be forced down people's throats on the streets.
I was approached at Derby train station of all places over the summer, and as I had 40 minutes until my train, I thought I'd entertain the sales person.
He told me that VJ was an internationally renowned MUA and that she works on all the Hollywood movies and shows, also naming Sex In The City. When I told him I'd never heard of her, nor seen any of the shows he was preaching about, he moved on to showing me the make up. I didn't think he was pushy, I think the poor guy was just trying to make a few sales. He told me the supposed RRP of the products he was showing me. (Yeah, right.) As soon as I told him I was a student, he slashed the prices right down.
I liked one palette and then he showed me some gorgeous looking lipglosses that came in a lovely looking leather case. I spent £30 - that was for the palette and for 3 lipglosses which I really, really love, and do use on occasion. He chucked in another palette for free and the survival kit. I also bought a make up case which he slashed from £40 down to £10 (apparently). I needed one and it would do the job when travelling.
All in all I spent £40. I use the blusher from the survival kit every day because I like the shade. I don't use the two palettes, but I do use the lipglosses when I go out.
However, I will not be buying from VJ again. I rarely use most of the stuff I've bought and the palettes aren't of the greatest quality. If I saw them selling the blusher separately however, I might, then again I'm sure I could find cheaper products on the hight street.

I had a look, tested the products and thought, nope the packaging looks good and similar to say Mac or Nars (if you look with squinted eyes) but the product inside is lousy. Hate pushy marketing, a 'high quality' product cant be that great if its sold off fold-away tables!Decent brands who dont have stores, use websites to sell..this doesnt even have that only promotional blurb. I was given a mini pallet aswell by a friend who'd got sucked in. 3 eyeshadows and 3 lipcolours. none of them have any decent pigmentation and they dont last. Ive used better stuff of a market stall!! lol Another friend who also got sucked in showed me her 'haul' the powder brush she showed me i wouldnt use on my skin, it was scratchy. The bronzer would only work on dark skin and smelt overly perfumed like it was hiding something bad.
I've just been reading all the related posts about this brand.. OMG it sounds awful!!! I haven't personally seen the salespeople around but will make sure I steer well clear if I do. I feel sorry for any well-meaning boyfriends/husbands etc who may have been lured in thinking they were getting an amazing deal for gifts :-(
I just worry about this stuff being old stock. VJ stuff used to be on UK tv all the time with a godawful infomercial. But VJ now has her own new brand of makeup sold at Sephora etc (I think called Lola Rose) and so I don't think she even makes the original VJ anymore. The stuff looks crap anyway and I'm certainly not buying makeup from some kid in WH Smith!
