Right Jane - this is perfect. Every blogger - new, old, and whether they like BBB or not should read this!!

I may have had a glass of prosecco, but it resonated so strongly with me that I felt a little tear threatening.

Don't worry - I fought it!!

Strikes me that aspiring beauty bloggers should consider contacting experienced/well known ones like you to try to score some samples, since you're innundated.
(And no - that wasn't me being snarky. It just strikes me that it'd be a good thing to take a couple of baby bloggers under your wing.)

Hi Wordbird.. I have indeed sent products out to other bloggers on many occasions, but problem with that can be PRs getting (quite rightly) cross about where their samples end up. It isn't quite so simple. But, I do share.

Excellent post, I started off reviewing products I already owned and have advised new bloggers to do the same. I hear you re the science of things and do the same as you, I try to explain it as if I'm talking to a friend.

Once again, brilliant post!

I can vouch for BBB sending samples to smaller bloggers. I've been a lucky recipient :)

Great great post. Something I think most of us can relate to... I've had a few days of feeling blah, treated myself to some new YSL and now I feel excited to blog about them and revived!

Love you for posting this xx

I think this post hits every nail on the head that there ever was to hit regarding blogging and blahness and samples and guilt and well the rest.
I get blah days but I must admit I simply don't post.. I am seriously thinking about what you've said about the importance of posting everyday..
Hmmm..
I really loved this post it was a great & very spot on read :-)

Great post, really enjoyed reading this. Bloggers guilt is the main one I suffer from, but then I have to accept that I cant blog about everything, so I just do what I do. x

This is going to be my bible for when I've got nothing to blog about! Right now I'm taking a tiny break from it all because I've got a throat infection and I've got tonnes of catching up to do at uni but when I write again, I don't know what to write about so when I do, I am coming back here to refer back to my bible!

good post :) scheduling posts ahead of time when you have a spurt of energy/inspiration also helps, i find. some days you really don't feel like doing it, but if you have a couple posts pre-written in the wings, voila! hit publish and you are set, back to the couch with the remote and brownies ;)

I found myself nodding to everything here, I get those days all the time that's why scheduled posts are a blessing for me :)

Excellent post! I really, really appreciate the big time bloggers like yourself and never buy a product without checking if they've blogged about it first as I value their opinions xx

You've said it better than I ever could. Great post Jane!

Thank you for such an excellent post! I'll revert back to it every time I get low blog esteem. x

I think we all have blah days. Like you, I've often sat and reflected why they happen and come up with some strategies to get past it. I always find it helps. It also helps me to remember that it isn't a job and everyone has to find their own way to make it fit their life and not the other way round. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Jane x

I feel a bit like saying everything I would like to say has been covered in the above comments which it has to a certain extent, but being a serial deleter of my blog I have actually bookmarked this post so that when I get these days (which usually follow a look in the mirror!) I can click on the link and read your sensible and pertanent text again. Thankyou so very much.

I love the fact you wrote this. I've been having blah weeks for the last couple of months, but that's ok. You get through them and come out the other side refreshed. Totally agree with your first points too - sometimes having too much to talk about is worse than having nothing! X

Great post! I think that it is so easy to get wrapped up in stats and really get yourself worried about little things like someone unfollowing or a negative comment. I think all beauty bloggers should read this to remind themselves why they began blogging and to make sure it doesn't take over their lives. We're lucky to have 2 people operating our blog (Lisa and I) so if one person has a lot on the other can take over but when it starts affecting our ability to finish uni work you realise you need to step back and re evaluate your priorities. Thanks very much for this post! Sami xx

Thanks a lot for this post. I am a new blogger and I found this encouraging.

Such an excellent, and much needed, post. I wish I'd read something like this when I began blogging, and certainly over the last two weeks, when I completely lost my blogging mojo. It's so easy to get caught up in the work that pays the bills, then all the blog posts start stacking up.

Then the guilt of posts waiting to be written coupled with the sheer mountain of writing to be tackled just puts me off starting at all!

Two points I've taken to heart from this: I've never looked into scheduling posts, but will henceforth have a go, and secondly, I have to realise that sometimes, a couple of lines is better than no post at all.

Thanks for spurring me back on!

Great post! Even though I don't have a blog myself, I have often wondered about all these issues for bloggers, you've given me some great insight..
