Lol, I think mainly women buy for men though don't they? So they'll probably really be aiming at women, I mean my other half works 6 days a week and I know I buy all of his toiletries for him.

Mental image of the "real men" beauty ads... beer bellies and hairy cracks here we come....

Once hubby told me he thought he had cellulite! Don't ask why.

Using hubby as the barrometer, Real Men won't even touch "ladies" brands - he thinks Dove is "sissy".

Hi, tried to email you but got a bounceback so apologies for posting on an unrelated topic.

Perhaps I've been terribly naive but I always thought that major beauty brands cost the same wherever you bought them (apart from discount retailers, who typically only offer a few products from a range) but yesterday I bought a Clinique eye cream (all about eyes cream/gel formula) and Dior skinflash from House of Fraser - the cream was £2 more expensive than Boots, Debenhams and Clinique direct, whilst the skinflash was £1 more expensive than Boots and Debenhams. A Clinigue foundation that I bought was the same price as Boots et al so there doesn't seem to be a blanket price premium charged, more of a sneaky "let's see what we can get away with..." approach.

I didn't realise this until I returned from shopping - my local Boots doesn't stock Clinique and there's no Debenhams nearby so in future I will make sure I shop online...

I certainly wasn't aware of this "flexible (aka inflated) pricing", so maybe there are other consumers unwittingly paying more than they need - perhaps you could highlight this on your blog so people can make properly informed choices?

Love your blog - my budget is somewhat restricted so I can't hope to try some of the more expensive products/services that you write about, but I still like to read about them!

Thanks, Jo

Oh God did you get the "piticure" treatment in the UK? Dove just did an event for the beauty editors here in Canada and there was a collective eye roll when they brought some poor girl on to the stage to have her armpit massaged and then the deodorant applied... as if it were some kind of spa treatment. There is actually a whole website dedicated to it: http://newdeofromdove.com/
I wonder who told them that would be a good idea.
